INSTRUCTIONS FOR MEDICAL USE OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT SPIRTUS ETHYLICUS 70 % (ETHANOL 70 %)

Composition:

Active substance: ethanol;

contains at 20 °C not less than 69.3 % vol/vol and not more than 70.7 % vol/vol of ethanol and water.

Pharmaceutical form. Solution for external use.

Main physico-chemical properties: clear, colorless, volatile, flammable liquid. Hygroscopic.

Pharmacological properties.

Pharmacodynamics.

Exerts antiseptic, disinfectant, and local irritant effects when applied externally. Ethanol coagulates proteins and is active against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria as well as viruses.

Pharmacokinetics.

Not absorbed through the skin when applied locally.

Clinical characteristics.

Indications.

Furuncles, felon (whitlow), infiltrates, mastitis in the initial stages. For wiping and compresses. Surgical hand disinfection.

Contraindications.

Hypersensitivity. Should not be used in acute inflammatory skin conditions.

Special precautions.

If redness or skin irritation occurs, discontinue use of the product and wash the area with water.

Avoid contact with eyes!

Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction.

When ethanol is used topically, interactions with other medicinal products are unknown.
