INSTRUCTIONS FOR MEDICAL USE OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT ETHYL ALCOHOL 70% (SPIRITUS AETHYLICUS 70%)

Composition:

Active substance: ethanol;

ethanol not less than 69.3% and not more than 70.7% by volume, and purified water.

Pharmaceutical form. Solution for external use.

Main physicochemical properties: clear, colorless, volatile, highly flammable liquid. Hygroscopic.

Pharmacodynamics.

Exerts antiseptic, disinfectant, and local irritant effects when applied externally. Ethanol coagulates proteins and is active against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria as well as viruses.

Pharmacokinetics.

Not absorbed through the skin when applied locally.

Clinical characteristics.

Indications.

Furuncles, panaritium, infiltrates, mastitis in the initial stages. For wiping and compresses. Surgical hand disinfection.

Contraindications.

Hypersensitivity. Should not be used in acute inflammatory skin conditions.

Special precautions.

In case of skin redness or irritation, discontinue use of the medicinal product and wash the area with water.

Avoid contact of the preparation with eyes!

Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction.

With topical application of ethanol, interactions with other medicinal products are unknown.

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

The use of the medicinal product during pregnancy or breastfeeding is possible only when the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus or infant.

Ability to affect reaction speed when driving vehicles or operating machinery.

Administration and dosage.

Externally – for skin rubbing, compresses, and disinfection of the skin, including hands. For compresses and rubbing (to prevent skin irritation), ethanol should be diluted with water in a 1:1 ratio.

Children.

Use as directed by a physician.

Overdose.

Cases of overdose are unknown with topical application.

Adverse reactions.

Local irritation of the skin or mucous membranes may occur with topical use.

If any adverse effects occur, consult a physician.

Shelf life.

5 years.

Do not use the medicinal product after the expiry date stated on the packaging.

Storage conditions.

Store at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C in the original packaging. Keep out of reach of children. Avoid contact with open flame.
