FORMIC ALCOHOL
(FORMIC ACID SPIRIT)

Composition:

active ingredient: formic acid;

100 ml of the preparation contain formic acid 1.4 g;

excipient: ethanol 70 %.

Alcoholic topical solution.

Main physicochemical properties: clear, colorless liquid with a specific pungent odor.

Pharmacological properties.

Pharmacodynamics.

Formic alcohol belongs to agents that irritate sensory nerve endings. Due to stimulation of skin and subcutaneous tissue receptors, the preparation exerts not only a reflexive but also a general humoral effect. Stimulation by formic alcohol receptors is accompanied by stimulation of endorphin, dynorphin and peptide production and release, which play an important role in regulation of pain sensations, vascular permeability and other processes.

Clinical characteristics.

Indications.

Neuralgias, myositis, arthralgias.

Contraindications.

Hypersensitivity to the preparation. Eczema, inflammatory and infectious skin diseases localized in the area of application, as well as allergic diseases.

Special precautions.

Avoid getting the preparation on mucous membranes and into the eyes.

Do not violate the rules of using the medicinal product, as this may harm health.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other types of interactions.

When used simultaneously with preparations containing organic compounds, new compounds may be formed, denaturation of protein components may occur.

When using any other medicinal products simultaneously, inform your doctor.

Special precautions.

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, the drug may be used only when the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus or infant.

Ability to affect reaction rate while driving or operating machinery.

Method of administration and dosage.

Formic alcohol is applied externally for rubbing the affected area of the body. Frequency of application and duration of treatment are determined by the nature and severity of the condition.

Children.

Do not use in children under 12 years of age.
