INSTRUCTIONS FOR MEDICAL USE OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT SPIRITUS AETHYLICUS 70 % (ETHYL ALCOHOL 70 %)
Composition:
Active substance: ethanol;
1 bottle contains not less than 69.3 % vol/vol and not more than 70.7 % vol/vol of ethanol and water.
Pharmaceutical form. Alcoholic solution for external use.
Main physicochemical properties: clear, colorless, volatile, flammable, hygroscopic liquid.
Pharmacotherapeutic group. Antiseptics and disinfectants. ATC code D08AX08.
Pharmacological properties.
Pharmacodynamics. When applied externally, exerts antiseptic, disinfectant, and local irritant effects. Ethanol coagulates proteins and is active against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria as well as viruses.
Pharmacokinetics. When applied locally, it is not absorbed through the skin.
Clinical characteristics.
Indications. Furuncles, paronychia, infiltrates, mastitis in the initial stages. For wiping and compresses. For surgical hand disinfection.
Contraindications. Hypersensitivity. Acute inflammatory skin conditions.
Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction. When ethanol is applied topically, interactions with other medicinal products are unknown.
Special precautions for use.
If redness or skin irritation occurs, discontinue use of the medicinal product and wash the liquid off with water. Avoid contact of the preparation with eyes.
Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. During pregnancy or breastfeeding, the use of this medicinal product is possible only if the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus or infant.
