INSTRUCTION FOR MEDICAL USE OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT OREGANO HERB (ORIGANI VULGARIS HERBA)

Composition:

Active substance: oregano herb (Origani Vulgaris Herba);

1 pack contains oregano herb (Origani Vulgaris Herba) – 50 g;
1 filter bag contains oregano herb (Origani Vulgaris Herba) – 1.5 g.

Pharmaceutical form. Herb.

Main physicochemical properties:

Ground raw material: fragments of leaves, stems, inflorescences, as well as individual flowers, passing through a sieve with 7 mm diameter openings. Color is grayish-green with brownish-purple specks. Odor is pleasant. Taste is bitter-spicy, slightly astringent.

Coarse powder: fragments of leaves, stems, inflorescences, and flowers of various shapes, passing through a sieve with 2 mm diameter openings. Color is grayish-green with brownish-purple specks. Odor is pleasant. Taste is bitter-spicy, slightly astringent.

Pharmacotherapeutic group.

Preparations used for cough and colds. Expectorants. ATC code R05CA.

Clinical characteristics.

Indications.

Inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract (laryngitis, bronchitis, tracheitis); cholecystitis and biliary tract dyskinesia; decreased appetite, impaired digestion, especially in cases of secretory insufficiency of the gastrointestinal tract; enterocolitis accompanied by constipation and meteorism; increased nervous excitability.

Contraindications.

Pregnancy, increased gastrointestinal secretion, individual sensitivity to biologically active substances contained in the medicinal product; children under 1 year of age.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction.

Usage Notes.

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Do not administer during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Method of administration and dosage.

Place 2 tablespoons of the herb into an enameled container, pour 200 ml of hot boiled water, cover with a lid and let steep in a water bath for 15 minutes. Cool at room temperature for 45 minutes, strain, squeeze the residue into the strained infusion. Adjust the volume of the infusion to 200 ml with boiled water. For adults, take the warm infusion in a dose of ⅓ cup 3 times daily, 15–20 minutes before meals. For children: aged 1–3 years – 1 teaspoon, aged 3–5 years – 1 dessert spoon, aged 5–7 years – 1 tablespoon, aged 7–12 years – 2 tablespoons, aged 12–14 years – ¼ cup, aged 14 years and older – ⅓ cup, 3 times daily, 15–20 minutes before meals.

Place 2 filter bags into a glass or enameled container, pour 100 ml of boiling water, cover and let steep for 15 minutes. For adults, take 100 ml of warm infusion 3 times daily, 15–20 minutes before meals. For children: aged 1–3 years – 2 teaspoons, aged 3–5 years – 2 dessert spoons, aged 5–7 years – 2 tablespoons, aged 7–12 years – 60 ml, aged 12–14 years – 100 ml, 3 times daily, 15–20 minutes before meals.

The duration of treatment is determined individually by a physician.

Children.

Do not administer to children under 1 year of age. The dosage for children aged 1 year and older is determined by a physician.

Overdose.

No reports of overdose have been received.

Side effects.

Allergic reactions are possible, including rash, itching, and skin swelling.

Shelf life. 2 years.

Do not use after the expiry date.

Storage conditions.

Store in the original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C, in a place inaccessible to children. Prepared infusion should be stored in the refrigerator for no more than 2 days.
