How should Glodu tincture be taken correctly?

The tincture should be taken orally before meals. For adults, it is recommended to take 20 drops 3 times a day until a stable effect is achieved (normalization of blood pressure and heart rate). For children aged 12 and older, the dosage is 1 drop per year of age, 3 times a day. The duration of the course is determined by a physician.

What are the possible side effects of Glodu tincture?

Rarely, drowsiness, a significant decrease in arterial blood pressure, or allergic reactions (rash, itching, redness, or skin edema) may occur.

Who should not take this drug?

The drug is contraindicated in cases of individual intolerance to the components, pronounced hypotension (low blood pressure), and bradycardia (low heart rate). It should not be used in children under 12 years of age, nor in women during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to its alcohol content.

Can you drive a car during treatment?

Since the drug contains ethanol and may cause drowsiness, one should refrain from driving a car or operating dangerous mechanisms while taking it.

How does the drug interact with other medicines?

The tincture enhances the effects of cardiac glycosides, antiarrhythmics, hypnotics, sedatives, and antihypertensives. It is not recommended to take it together with alkaloid salts and cisapride. Consult a physician before combining it with any other medications.

What should be done in case of overdose?

In case of significant overdose, drowsiness may occur, blood pressure may decrease, or the heart rate may slow down. In such an event, the use of the drug must be discontinued immediately, and medical assistance must be sought.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR MEDICAL USE OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT HAWTHORN TINCTURE (TINCTURA CRATAEGI)

Composition:

Active substance: 1 bottle contains hawthorn fruit tincture (1:10) (extraction solvent: 70% ethanol) 25 ml or 50 ml or 100 ml;

Excipients (besides extraction solvent): absent.

Pharmaceutical form. Tincture.

Main physicochemical properties: Clear liquid ranging in color from yellow to brown with an orange-red tint, with a characteristic odor. Slight sediment formation is permissible.

Pharmacotherapeutic group: Medicinal products used in cardiology. ATC code C01EB04.

Pharmacodynamics.

Biologically active substances contained in hawthorn fruits (flavonoids, choline, acetylcholine, tannins, phytosterols, triterpenic acids) enhance blood circulation in the coronary vessels and cerebral vessels, increase myocardial sensitivity to cardiac glycosides, and reduce myocardial excitability, resulting in a moderate enhancement of cardiac muscle contractions.

Pharmacokinetics.

The preparation is well absorbed upon oral administration. The effect occurs within 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Clinical characteristics.

Indications.

Functional disorders of the cardiovascular system (neurocirculatory dystonia), as well as an adjunctive agent in mild forms of cardiac rhythm disturbances (atrial fibrillation, paroxysmal tachycardia).

Contraindications.

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, pronounced arterial hypotension, bradycardia.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction.

The drug potentiates the effects of antiarrhythmic agents, enhances the effects of cardiac glycosides, hypnotics, sedatives, and antihypertensive agents. Concomitant use with alkaloid salts is not recommended due to the possibility of forming negative complexes. The drug should not be used together with cisapride. If simultaneous use of any medicinal products is required, consult a physician.

Special precautions for use.

The drug is not recommended to be taken during meals to avoid interaction with food components.

This medicinal product contains 70 vol.% ethanol (alcohol), i.e., 690.55 mg/dose. Harmful for patients suffering from alcoholism. Caution should be exercised when using in patients with liver diseases and in patients with epilepsy.

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding, as the product contains ethanol.

Ability to affect reaction speed when driving or operating machinery.

The drug contains ethanol and may cause drowsiness; therefore, during its use, driving vehicles and operating potentially hazardous machinery should be avoided.

Method of administration and dosage.

Oral administration before meals. Adults are recommended to take 20 drops of the tincture; children aged 12 years and older – 1 drop per year of life, three times daily, until a stable therapeutic effect is achieved (normalization of blood pressure, reduction of heart rate). Treatment duration is determined individually by a physician. The patient should consult a physician if symptoms do not resolve during treatment or if adverse reactions not listed in the instructions for medical use occur.

Children.

Do not use in children under 12 years of age due to the presence of ethanol in the formulation.

Overdose.

Significant overdose may lead to drowsiness, bradycardia, and decreased blood pressure, requiring discontinuation of the drug and symptomatic therapy.

Adverse reactions.

Rarely observed: drowsiness, significant decrease in blood pressure, allergic reactions (including hyperemia, rash, itching, skin swelling).

If any adverse reactions occur, discontinue use of the drug and seek medical advice immediately.

Storage conditions. Store in the original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C. Sediment formation may occur during storage.
