How should Chelidonium herb be taken correctly?

If using the herb, pour 200 ml of hot water over 1 teaspoon and infuse in a water bath for 15 minutes, then cool, strain, and top up with water to a volume of 200 ml. If using filter bags, pour 200 ml of boiling water over 1 bag and infuse for 15-20 minutes. Take in warm form, ¼ cup twice daily, 15 minutes before meals. The course lasts 2-3 weeks. For skin diseases, the infusion can also be used externally as compresses.

What side effects may Chelidonium herb cause?

Possible allergic reactions (itching, redness, and skin rash), nausea, vomiting, and in severe cases, paralysis of the respiratory center.

Who should not take this preparation?

Contraindicated in children, pregnant women, and breastfeeding women. It should also not be taken in cases of epilepsy, bronchial asthma, angina pectoris, neurological syndromes, organic changes in the liver or kidneys, or individual hypersensitivity to the components.

Composition:

Active substance: 1 pack contains 50 g of Chelidonium herba (Chelidonium herba);

1 filter bag contains 1.5 g of Chelidonium herba (Chelidonium herba).

Pharmaceutical form. Herba.

Main physico-chemical properties: fragments of leaves, stems, flowers, and seeds of various shapes passing through a sieve with 7 mm diameter openings. Color is grayish-green with yellow-brown specks. Odor is characteristic. Taste is not determined (for packs).

Powdery mass of grayish-green color with yellow-brown specks. Odor is characteristic. Taste is not determined (for filter bags).

Pharmacological properties.

Biologically active substances of chelidonium herb exert choleretic, spasmolytic, analgesic, sedative, anti-inflammatory, bactericidal, and diuretic effects.

Method of administration and dosage.

Cool at room temperature for 45 minutes, strain, squeeze the residue into the strained infusion. Adjust the volume of the infusion with boiled water to 200 ml. Take warm, ¼ cup twice daily, 15 minutes before meals. Treatment duration – 2–3 weeks.

Place 1 filter bag into a glass or enameled container, pour 200 ml of boiling water, cover with a lid and steep for 15–20 minutes. Take the infusion warm, ¼ cup twice daily, 15 minutes before meals. Treatment duration – 2–3 weeks.

For skin diseases, internal use of the infusion should be combined with external application in the form of compresses.

Store the prepared infusion at 8–15°C for no more than 2 days.
