Frequently asked questions
How should GLUCOFERRO be taken?
For adults, the dose is 1 vial (1-3 times a day) or 1/2 to 1 tablet per day, depending on the pharmaceutical form. For children, the dose varies based on age and body weight. The product should be taken orally during meals, dissolved in water or, in the case of the vial, can be diluted with water, milk, or fruit juices.
What are the side effects of GLUCOFERRO?
With high dosages, stomach disturbances such as nausea, diarrhea, constipation, or upper abdominal pain may occur. It may also darken the stools and, in some cases, temporarily stain tooth enamel.
Who should not take this medicine?
It must not be taken by those who are allergic to the components of the product or who suffer from hemosiderosis, hemochromatosis, hemolytic anemia, chronic pancreatitis, or liver cirrhosis.
Are there interactions with other drugs?
Iron may reduce the efficacy of antibiotics belonging to the tetracycline family. Furthermore, antacids may reduce its absorption, while ascorbic acid may promote it.
What precautions should be taken for the teeth?
To avoid possible temporary stains on the teeth, it is advisable to drink the liquid while trying to avoid excessive contact with the teeth and to rinse the mouth or brush the teeth after administration.
Are there any particular dietary warnings?
The tablets contain sodium, so it is important to take this into account if following a low-sodium diet. The medicine is not contraindicated for those suffering from celiac disease.
