How should Castor oil be taken correctly?
The oil is taken orally. For adults and children aged 12 years and older, a dose of 15–30 g per single administration is recommended. If the product is required for bowel cleansing before medical examinations, it should be taken 6 hours before the procedure.
What are the possible side effects of Castor oil?
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and electrolyte imbalance may occur. Constipation may occur after bowel cleansing. Prolonged use may lead to digestive disorders, enterocolitis, habituation and intestinal atony, as well as allergic reactions.
Who should not take this drug?
Contraindications include hypersensitivity to the drug or plants of the Euphorbiaceae family, gastric and duodenal ulcer disease, ulcerative colitis, acute inflammatory processes in the abdominal cavity (e.g., appendicitis or peritonitis), uterine bleeding, cachexia, old age, biliary tract obstruction, severe dehydration, as well as poisoning by fat-soluble substances or anthelmintics.
Can the drug be taken during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
The drug is contraindicated during pregnancy. During breastfeeding, use is only possible when the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the child.
Can this product be combined with other medicines?
It is not recommended to use the drug simultaneously with male fern extract.
What should be done in case of overdose?
Overdose may cause nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. In such cases, symptomatic treatment is required.

When administered orally, it is hydrolyzed by lipase in the small intestine to form ricinoleic acid, which irritates intestinal receptors and reflexively enhances intestinal peristalsis. The laxative effect usually occurs within 5–6 hours. The drug also causes reflex contraction of the myometrium.
