What are the possible side effects of Nystatin ointment?
Possible allergic reactions include itching, rash, chills, or increased body temperature. Additionally, contact dermatitis may occur due to the presence of alcohol in the composition.
Who should not use this drug?
The product is not prescribed for children, and it should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Contraindications include hypersensitivity to the components of the ointment, as well as the presence of tuberculosis, viral skin lesions, or staphylococcal pyoderma.
Can the ointment be applied to mucous membranes?
Do not allow the ointment to get into the eyes or onto other mucous membranes. If the ointment gets into the eyes, they must be thoroughly rinsed with running water.
How does the drug interact with other substances?
The efficacy of the ointment is reduced in the presence of fatty acids and divalent ions. Cross-resistance with other polyene antibiotics, such as amphotericin B, is also possible.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR MEDICAL USE OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT NISTATIN CREAM (UNGUENTUM NYSTATINI)
Composition:
Active ingredient: nystatin;
1 g of cream contains 100,000 IU nystatin;
Excipients: PEG-20 cetostearyl ether (a mixture of polyethylene glycol (macrogol) and cetostearyl ether), cetostearyl alcohol, mineral oil, polyethylene oxide-400, purified water.

Pharmacodynamics.
Nystatin is an antifungal antibiotic of the polyene group. Its activity is expressed in international units of action (IU). Nystatin acts against pathogenic fungi, particularly against Candida species of yeast-like fungi, as well as against Aspergillus species; it is inactive against bacteria.
The drug has moderate hyperosmolar activity, resulting in anti-exudative effect.
