How to correctly prepare the Equiseti herba infusion?

Pour 200 ml of hot boiled water over 2 teaspoons of the herb in an enameled vessel, cover with a lid, and infuse on a boiling water bath for 15 minutes. After this, allow the infusion to cool at room temperature for 45 minutes, strain, squeeze the residue, and bring the liquid volume up to 200 ml with water. Shake the infusion before use.

What is the dosage and administration rules for adults and children?

The infusion is taken warm 3-4 times a day, one hour after meals. Adults and children aged 14 and older should drink ¼ cup at a time, and children aged 12-14 years should take 2 tablespoons.

Who should not take this preparation?

Contraindications include nephritis, nephrosis, nephrosonephritis, as well as individual sensitivity to the components of the preparation. The product is also prohibited for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

What are the possible side effects of taking Equiseti herba?

Allergic reactions such as itching, rash, or skin redness are possible. The preparation may also irritate kidney tissues, manifesting as lower back pain or pain at the end of urination.

I N S T R U C T I O N for medical use of the medicinal product FIELD HORSETAIL HERB (EQUISETI ARVENSIS HERBA)

Composition:

Active substance: field horsetail herb (Equiseti arvensis herba);

1 pack contains: field horsetail herb (Equiseti arvensis herba), cut and pressed, 100 g.

Pharmaceutical form. Cut and pressed herb.

Main physico-chemical properties: cylindrical pieces, smooth surface, shiny, occasionally dull, marbled; cross-sections are uneven. Color is dark green, lighter at the ends.

Pharmacotherapeutic group. Diuretics. ATC code C03B X.

Pharmacological Properties.

Pharmacodynamics.

The biologically active substances of the drug exert diuretic, hemostatic, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and hypotensive effects. It has been experimentally established that infusions of field horsetail herb promote the elimination of lead from the body.

Clinical characteristics.

Indications.

Cardiac and other diseases associated with edema; urinary tract diseases (pyelitis, cystitis, urethritis); pulmonary, nasal, uterine, and hemorrhoidal bleeding; acute and chronic lead poisoning (as part of complex therapy).

Contraindications.

Nephritis, nephroses, nephrotic nephritis. Hypersensitivity to the biologically active substances of the drug.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction. Unknown. If simultaneous use of any other medicinal products is necessary, consult a physician.

Usage characteristics.

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Contraindicated.

Ability to affect reaction speed when driving or operating machinery. Does not affect.

Method of Administration and Dosage

Place 2 teaspoons of cut and pressed herb into an enameled container, pour 200 ml of hot boiled water, cover with a lid, and let stand on a boiling water bath for 15 minutes. Cool at room temperature for 45 minutes, then strain and squeeze the residue into the strained infusion. Adjust the volume of the infusion to 200 ml with boiled water. Shake well before use.

Take warm, 3–4 times daily, 1 hour after meals:

  • Adults and children aged 14 years and older – ¼ cup (50 ml) per dose;
  • Children aged 12–14 years – 2 tablespoons (30 ml) per dose.

The prepared infusion should be stored at 8–15°C and used within 48 hours.

Treatment duration is determined individually by a physician.

Children. The drug is indicated for children aged 12 years and older.

Overdose. No cases reported.

Side effects.

Allergic reactions (including hyperemia, itching, and skin rash). May cause irritation of kidney tissue, manifested by pain in the lower back and at the end of urination. If any adverse reactions occur, discontinue use of the drug and consult a physician.

Shelf life. 4 years.

Do not use after the expiry date stated on the packaging.

Storage conditions. Store in the original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C, in a place inaccessible to children.

Packaging. 100 g per box with an inner packet.
