Main physicochemical properties: clear greenish-brown liquid with a characteristic odour; formation of a precipitate during storage is permissible.

Pharmacodynamics.

"Eucalyptus Tincture" contains a complex of biologically active substances: tannins, ellagic acid, flavonoids, resins, wax, and essential oil, which includes various terpenoid compounds (including cineole, a monoterpene), exerting a detrimental effect on Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms, fungi, and protozoa. The preparation inhibits the growth of Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Trichomonas, and Entamoeba histolytica, and exerts antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, disinfectant, and mild sedative effects.

Indications.

Inflammatory diseases of the upper respiratory tract, nasopharynx, and oral cavity (tracheitis, laryngitis, pharyngitis, gingivitis, stomatitis), skin injuries (including infected wounds), as well as mild forms of neurotic disorders (irritability, emotional lability, sleep onset and sleep disturbances).

Contraindications.

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug. Bronchial asthma, bronchospasm. Inflammatory diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and biliary passages. Severe liver disease.

Special precautions.

Since the preparation contains ethanol, prolonged use of the tincture is not recommended.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction.

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Since the preparation contains ethanol, the tincture is not recommended for internal use in women during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Ability to affect reaction rate when driving or operating machinery. Since the preparation contains ethanol, "Eucalyptus tincture" is not recommended for use when driving or operating machinery.

Administration and Dosage.

"Eucalyptus Tincture" is taken orally, as well as used for gargling and steam inhalations.

Adults are recommended to take 15–30 drops of the tincture internally, 3–4 times daily after meals; children aged 12 years and older – at a dose of 1 drop per year of life, 3–4 times daily after meals.

For gargling, dilute 10–15 drops of the tincture in 200 ml of warm boiled water.

Steam inhalations should be performed using inhalers of any type, applying the undiluted preparation or after prior dilution with water (as for gargling).

The duration of treatment depends on the therapeutic effect achieved, as determined by the physician.

Children.

The preparation may be used in children aged 12 years and older, as prescribed and under the supervision of a physician.

Adverse reactions.

In case of hypersensitivity to the drug, allergic reactions may occur (including urticaria, redness and skin rashes, itching, Quincke's edema), sometimes contact dermatitis (in the lip area); nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. If pronounced reactions occur, the use of the drug must be discontinued.

Shelf life. 5 years.

Store at a temperature not exceeding 25 ˚C, in a place inaccessible to children.
