How should Chelidonium herb be taken correctly?

If using the herb, pour 200 ml of boiling water over 1 teaspoon, infuse in a water bath for 15 minutes, cool, strain, and top up with water to a volume of 200 ml. If using filter bags, pour 200 ml of boiling water over 1 bag and infuse for 15-20 minutes. Take warm in doses of ¼ cup twice daily, 15 minutes before meals. For skin diseases, the infusion is also used externally as compresses. The course lasts 2-3 weeks.

Who should not take this preparation?

Contraindicated in children, pregnant women, and breastfeeding women. It should also not be taken in cases of epilepsy, bronchial asthma, angina pectoris, neurological syndromes, or organic changes in the liver or kidneys, as well as in cases of individual hypersensitivity to the components.

What are the possible side effects of Chelidonium herb?

Allergic reactions (itching, rash, skin redness), nausea, and vomiting are possible. In severe cases, paralysis of the respiratory center may occur. In case of overdose, dizziness, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, or paralysis of the respiratory center may occur.

Can you drive a car during treatment?

The preparation may affect reaction speed, as it is capable of depressing the central nervous system.

What should you do if you experience side effects or an overdose of the preparation?

You must immediately discontinue use and consult a physician. In case of overdose, therapy should be symptomatic.

I N S T R U C T I O N for medical use of the medicinal product CHISTOTILU HERB (CHELIDONII HERBA)

Composition:

Active substance: Chelidonium herb (Chelidonii herba);

1 pack contains: Chelidonium herb (Chelidonii herba) 50 g;

1 filter bag contains: Chelidonium herb (Chelidonii herba) 1.5 g.

Pharmaceutical form. Herb.

Main physico-chemical properties: fragments of leaves, stems, flowers, and fruits of various shapes. Color is light green, green, blue-green, glaucous, with bright yellow, yellow, brownish, greenish-brown, brown or black specks.

Pharmacotherapeutic group. Agents affecting the digestive system and metabolism. ATC code A16A X.

Pharmacological properties.

Pharmacodynamics.

Biologically active substances of Chelidonium majus herb exert choleretic, spasmolytic, analgesic, sedative, bactericidal, and diuretic effects.

Clinical characteristics.

Indications.

In complex treatment of liver and gallbladder diseases (hepatitis, cholangitis, cholecystitis) and skin disorders (impetigo, psoriasis, dermatitis, eczema).

Contraindications.

Hypersensitivity to biologically active components of the drug. Epilepsy, bronchial asthma, angina pectoris, organic liver or kidney changes, neurological syndromes.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other types of interactions. Unknown.

Special precautions for use.

The use of preparations containing black henbane is permitted only on prescription and under medical supervision.

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Contraindicated.

Ability to influence reaction rate when driving or operating machinery. May affect the ability to drive or operate machinery, considering that black henbane preparations can suppress the central nervous system.

Method of Administration and Dosage.

Place 1 teaspoon of the herb into an enameled container, pour 200 ml of hot boiled water, cover with a lid, and steep in a boiling water bath for 15 minutes. Cool at room temperature for 45 minutes, strain, squeeze the residue, and add the expressed liquid to the strained infusion. Adjust the volume of the infusion with boiled water to 200 ml. Take warm, ¼ cup twice daily, 15 minutes before meals.

Place 1 filter bag into a glass or enameled container, pour 200 ml of boiling water, cover, and steep for 15–20 minutes. Take the infusion warm, ¼ cup twice daily, 15 minutes before meals.

For skin diseases, combine internal use of the infusion with external application in the form of compresses.

Store the prepared aqueous extract at 8–15°C for no more than 2 days.

Treatment duration: 2–3 weeks.

Children. Contraindicated.

Overdose. Prolonged internal use or exceeding the recommended doses may cause dizziness, poisoning with nausea and vomiting, and stomach pain; in severe cases, respiratory center paralysis may develop. If such symptoms occur, discontinue the drug immediately; symptomatic therapy is recommended.

Side effects.

In case of hypersensitivity, allergic reactions may occur (including hyperemia, itching, and skin rash), nausea, vomiting, and in severe cases – respiratory center paralysis. If adverse reactions occur, discontinue use of the drug and consult a physician.

Shelf life. 3 years.

Do not use after the expiry date stated on the packaging.

Storage conditions. Store in the original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C, in a place inaccessible to children.

Packaging. 50 g in packs with an inner pouch; 1.5 g in filter bags, 20 filter bags per pack, or in a pack with an inner pouch.
