    The medicine is used to treat infections caused by susceptible microorganisms, such as severe pneumonia, complicated urinary tract infections, abdominal infections (including peritonitis), biliary tract infections, and bacteremia. It is also used in the treatment of bacterial meningitis and in patients with fever during neutropenia.
