It is used for the treatment of congenital antithrombin deficiency and for the prevention or management of deep vein thrombosis and thromboembolism in high-risk situations (such as surgery, childbirth, or postpartum), often in association with heparin. It also serves as replacement therapy to normalize coagulation in cases of acquired antithrombin deficiency.
