It is used for the treatment and prevention of bleeding in patients with hemophilia A (factor VIII deficiency) and for the treatment of acquired deficiency of this factor. It is also indicated for hemophilia A patients who have developed antibodies against factor VIII and for the prophylaxis or treatment of bleeding in von Willebrand disease, when treatment with desmopressin is ineffective or contraindicated.
