How to correctly prepare the Sage leaves infusion?

Place 1 tablespoon of leaves in an enameled vessel, pour in 200 ml of hot boiled water, cover with a lid, and infuse in a water bath for 15 minutes. After this, allow it to cool for 45 minutes, strain, squeeze the residue, and bring the liquid volume up to 200 ml with water.

How to use the preparation for gargling and inhalation?

Adults and children aged 12 and older use the undiluted infusion. Children aged 7–12 years need to dilute 4 tablespoons of the infusion in 200 ml of water, and children aged 3–7 years — 2 tablespoons in 200 ml of water. Procedures are performed 3–4 times a day.

Who should not use this remedy?

The preparation is contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity to its components.

What could be the side effects of Sage leaves?

Allergic reactions may occur, such as redness, rash, itching, or skin swelling. In such cases, discontinue use and consult a physician.

Can the preparation be taken by pregnant women or children?

Pregnant and breastfeeding women should only use the preparation if prescribed by a physician, provided the benefit to the mother outweighs the risk to the child. For children aged 3 and older, use as directed by a physician.

Does the preparation affect the ability to drive a vehicle?

INSTRUCTION FOR MEDICAL USE OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT SAGE LEAVES (SALVIAE OFFICINALIS FOLIUM)

Composition:

Active substance: sage leaves (Salviae officinalis folium);

1 packet contains sage leaves (Salviae officinalis folium) 50 g.

Pharmaceutical form. Leaves.

Main physico-chemical properties: fragments of leaves of various shapes, with admixtures of other plant parts (pieces of stems, flowers). Color is green, grayish-green, or silvery-white. Odor is pleasant.

Pharmacotherapeutic group. Agents for use in dentistry. ATC code A01AD11.

Pharmacological properties.

Pharmacodynamics. Biologically active substances of the leaves tighten epithelial tissues, reduce cell membrane permeability, strengthen walls of damaged blood vessels. They exert astringent, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and hemostatic effects.

Pharmacokinetics. Not studied.

Dosage and Administration.

Place 1 tablespoon of the leaves into an enameled container, pour 200 mL of hot boiled water, cover with a lid, and heat on a water bath for 15 minutes. Allow to cool at room temperature for 45 minutes, then strain and squeeze the residue into the strained infusion. Adjust the final volume of the infusion to 200 mL with boiled water.

For external use in inhalations and gargling – 3–4 times daily: for adults and children aged 12 years and older – undiluted; for children aged 7–12 years – dilute 4 tablespoons of the infusion in 200 mL of boiled water; for children aged 3–7 years – dilute 2 tablespoons of the infusion in 200 mL of boiled water.

The duration of treatment is determined individually by a physician.

Children.

The medicinal product may be used in children aged 3 years and older only as prescribed by a physician.

Overdose.

In case of overdose, adverse reactions may be intensified.

Side effects.

Allergic reactions (including hyperemia, rash, itching, skin swelling). If adverse reactions occur, discontinue use of the product and consult a doctor.

Shelf life. 1 year 6 months.

Storage conditions.

Store in a dry, dark place at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C.

Keep out of reach of children.

The prepared infusion should be stored in a cool place for no more than 2 days.
