How to correctly prepare a Sage leaves infusion?

Place 1 tablespoon of leaves in 200 ml of hot boiled water, cover with a lid, and infuse in a water bath for 15 minutes. After this, allow it to cool at room temperature for 45 minutes, strain, squeeze the residue, and bring the volume of the infusion up to 200 ml with water. It is also possible to use 5 filter bags per 200 ml of boiling water with an infusion time of 15 minutes.

What is the appropriate dosage of Sage leaves for different age groups?

The infusion is used for rinsing and inhalations 3-4 times a day. Adults and children aged 12 years and older — in undiluted form. Children aged 7-12 years — 4 tablespoons of the infusion per 200 ml of water. Children aged 3-7 years — 2 tablespoons of the infusion per 200 ml of water.

Who should not take this preparation?

Contraindications include hypersensitivity to the biologically active substances contained in the preparation.

I N S T R U C T I O N for medical use of the medicinal product SAGE LEAVES (SALVIAEFOLIA)

Composition:

Active substance: sage leaves (Salviaefolia);

One pack contains: sage leaves (Salviaefolia) 50 g or 60 g;

One filter bag contains: sage leaves (Salviaefolia) 1 g.

Pharmaceutical form. Leaves.

Main physico-chemical properties: fragments of leaves of various shapes, mixed with stems and flowers, green, greyish-green or silvery-white in color, with a characteristic odor.

Pharmacotherapeutic group. Agents for use in dentistry. ATC code A01AD11.

Pharmacological properties.

Pharmacodynamics.

The biologically active substances of the leaves strengthen epithelial tissues, reduce cellular membrane permeability, and reinforce the walls of damaged blood vessels. They exert astringent, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and hemostatic effects.

Clinical characteristics.

Indications.

Diseases of the oral cavity (stomatitis, gingivitis, periodontosis) and upper respiratory tract (laryngitis, pharyngitis, tracheitis).

Contraindications.

Hypersensitivity to the biologically active substances of the drug.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction. Unknown. If simultaneous use of any other medicinal products is necessary, consult a physician.

Method of Administration and Dosage.

Place 1 tablespoon of leaves into an enameled container, pour 200 ml of hot boiled water, cover with a lid, and steep in a water bath for 15 minutes. Cool at room temperature for 45 minutes, strain, squeeze the residue into the strained infusion. Adjust the infusion volume to 200 ml with boiled water.

For external use in inhalations and gargling 3–4 times daily: for adults and children aged 12 years and older – undiluted; for children aged 7–12 years – dilute 4 tablespoons of the infusion in 200 ml of boiled water; for children aged 3–7 years – dilute 2 tablespoons of the infusion in 200 ml of boiled water.

Place 5 filter bags into a glass or enameled container, pour 200 ml of boiling water, cover and let stand for 15 minutes. For external use in inhalations and gargling 3–4 times daily: for adults and children aged 12 years and older – undiluted; for children aged 7–12 years – dilute 4 tablespoons of the infusion in 200 ml of boiled water; for children aged 3–7 years – dilute 2 tablespoons of the infusion in 200 ml of boiled water.

Store the prepared aqueous extract at 2–8 °C for no more than 2 days.

Children. The product may be used in children aged 3 years and older under medical supervision.

Overdose. In case of overdose, adverse reactions may intensify.

Side effects.

Allergic reactions (including hyperemia, rash, itching, skin swelling). If side effects occur, discontinue use of the medication and consult a doctor.

Shelf life. 2 years. Do not use after the expiry date stated on the packaging.

Storage conditions. Store in the original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C, in a place inaccessible to children.
