How to correctly prepare and take the infusion?

If using the herb: pour 200 ml of boiling water over 2 tablespoons, infuse in a water bath for 15 minutes, cool, strain, and top up with water to a volume of 200 ml. If using filter bags: pour 200 ml of boiling water over 2 bags and infuse for 15 minutes. Take warm 3-4 times a day, one hour after meals.

What is the dosage of Equiseti herba for adults and children?

For adults and children aged 14 and older: when using the herb, ¼ cup; when using filter bags, ½-1 cup. For children aged 12-14: when using the herb, 2 tablespoons; when using filter bags, ¼ cup. The preparation can be used from 12 years of age.

Who should not take this preparation?

Contraindications include nephritis, nephrosis, nephrosynephritis, as well as individual sensitivity to the components of the preparation. It should also not be taken during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

What are the possible side effects?

Allergic reactions such as itching, rash, or skin redness are possible. The preparation may also irritate kidney tissues, causing pain in the lower back or at the end of urination.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR MEDICAL USE OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT FIELD HORSETAIL HERB (HERBA EQUISETI ARVENSIS)

Composition:

Active substance: field horsetail herb (Herba Equiseti arvensis);

1 pack contains field horsetail herb (Herba Equiseti arvensis) – 50 g; 1 filter bag contains field horsetail herb (Herba Equiseti arvensis) – 1.5 g.

Pharmaceutical form. Herb.

Main physicochemical properties:

Chopped raw material: fragments of stems and branches, partially with nodes and sheaths, passing through a sieve with 7 mm diameter openings. Greyish-green in color. Slight odor. Slightly sour taste;

Coarse powder: fragments of stems and branches, partially with nodes and sheaths, passing through a sieve with 2 mm diameter openings. Greyish-green in color. Slight odor. Slightly sour taste.

Pharmacotherapeutic group. Diuretics.

Pharmacological properties.

Pharmacodynamics.

The biologically active substances of the drug exert diuretic, hemostatic, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and hypotensive effects. It has been experimentally established that infusions of field horsetail herb promote the excretion of lead from the body.

Clinical characteristics.

Indications.

Cardiac and other diseases associated with edema; urinary tract diseases (pyelitis, cystitis, urethritis); pulmonary, nasal, uterine, and hemorrhoidal bleeding; acute and chronic lead poisoning (as part of complex therapy).

Contraindications.

Nephritis, nephroses, nephrosonephritis. Hypersensitivity to the biologically active substances of the drug.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction. Unknown. If simultaneous use of any other medicinal products is necessary, consult a physician.

Special precautions.

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Contraindicated.

Ability to affect reaction rate when driving or operating machinery. No effect.

Method of Administration and Dosage

Place 2 tablespoons of the herb in an enameled container, pour 200 mL of hot boiled water, cover and steep in a water bath for 15 minutes. Cool at room temperature for 45 minutes, strain, squeeze the residue, and add the expressed liquid to the strained infusion. Adjust the total volume of the infusion to 200 mL with boiled water. Shake well before use.

Administer warm, 3–4 times daily, 1 hour after meals: for adults and children aged 14 years and older – ¼ cup; for children aged 12–14 years – 2 tablespoons.

Place 2 filter packets into a glass or enameled container, pour 200 mL of boiling water, cover and let steep for 15 minutes. Administer warm, 3–4 times daily, 1 hour after meals: for adults and children aged 14 years and older – ½ to 1 cup; for children aged 12–14 years – ¼ cup.

The duration of treatment is determined individually by a physician.

Children. The drug is indicated for children aged 12 years and older.

Overdose.

No cases reported.

Side effects.

Allergic reactions (including hyperemia, itching, and skin rash). May cause irritation of kidney tissue, manifested by lower back pain and pain at the end of urination.

If any adverse reactions occur, discontinue use of the drug and consult a physician.

Shelf life. 4 years.

Do not use the drug after the expiry date stated on the packaging.

Storage conditions.

Store in the original packaging, in a place inaccessible to children, at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C. Prepared infusion should be stored in a cool place for no more than 2 days.
