Composition:

Active substance: Aronia melanocarpa fruits (Aroniae melanocarpae fructus).

Medicinal form. Fruits.

Main physico-chemical properties: apple-like fruits, sometimes with stalks, spherical in shape. Fruit color is black, dark purple-black; flesh is violet-red, almost black.

Pharmotherapeutic group. Agents acting on metabolism and the digestive system. ATC Code: A16AX.

Clinical characteristics.

Indications.

Use in complex therapy for hypovitaminosis and avitaminosis, hemorrhagic diatheses, various types of bleeding, initial stages of arterial hypertension, thyrotoxicosis, and atherosclerosis.

Contraindications.

Hypersensitivity to the drug. Peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum, hyperacid gastritis, thrombosis, thrombophlebitis, increased blood coagulability, pronounced arterial hypotension.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other types of interactions. The effect of the drug is enhanced when taken simultaneously with plants containing ascorbic acid (rosehip fruits, black currant).

If simultaneous use of any medicinal products is necessary, consult a physician.

Method of Administration and Dosage.

Place 2 tablespoons of fruits into an enameled container, pour 200 ml of hot boiled water, cover with a lid, and steep in a boiling water bath for 15 minutes. Cool at room temperature for 45–60 minutes, then strain, squeezing out the residue into the strained infusion. Adjust the volume of the infusion to 200 ml with boiled water. Adults should take ½ cup of the warm infusion 3–4 times daily after meals. The infusion should be shaken before use.

Store the prepared aqueous extract in a refrigerator (at 2–8 °C) for no more than 2 days.

The duration of treatment course is determined individually by a physician, depending on the nature, severity, and specific course of the disease, stability of the achieved therapeutic effect, and drug tolerability.

Children. Due to insufficient clinical data on the use of the medicinal product in children, it should not be prescribed to this patient group.

Overdose. Increased manifestations of adverse reactions. Treatment is symptomatic.
