INSTRUCTIONS FOR MEDICAL USE OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT BUDS OF BIRCH

Composition:

Active substance: 1 pack contains buds of birch (gemmae betulae) 50 g.

Pharmaceutical form. Buds.

Main physico-chemical properties: buds are elongated-conical, pointed or blunt, often sticky. Scales are arranged in a tile-like pattern, tightly pressed at the edges, slightly tomentose (lower scales shorter than upper ones and sometimes with slightly separated tips); bud length – 3–7 mm, width – 1.5–3 mm.

Buds color is brown, sometimes greenish at the base. Odor is balsamic, pleasant. Taste is slightly astringent, resinous.

Pharmacotherapeutic group.

Non-thiazide diuretics with moderately expressed activity. ATC Code: C03BX.

Pharmacological properties.

The drug exerts diuretic, choleretic, spasmolytic, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, wound-healing, expectorant, antiviral, and antiparasitic effects.

Clinical characteristics.

Indications.

As part of complex therapy for chronic inflammatory kidney and bladder diseases; urolithiasis; cardiac edema; liver and biliary tract diseases with impaired bile secretion; laryngitis, bronchitis, tracheitis.

Contraindications.

Individual hypersensitivity to biologically active substances contained in the medicinal product; renal insufficiency, acute inflammatory kidney diseases, history of bleeding from pelvic organs, anemia, epilepsy.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other types of interactions.

Not known.

If it is necessary to take any other medicinal products, consult a physician.

Special precautions for use.

Prior to starting treatment, consult a physician. If urinary discomfort, fever, spasms, or blood in the urine occur, seek medical advice.

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

The safety and clinical efficacy of the medicinal product during pregnancy or breastfeeding have not been studied.

Ability to affect reaction speed when driving or operating machinery.

Has no effect.

Method of administration and dosage.

Place 1 tablespoon of buds into an enameled container, pour 200 ml of hot boiled water, cover with a lid, and place on a boiling water bath for 15 minutes. Allow to cool at room temperature for 45 minutes, then filter; squeeze the residue and add the expressed liquid to the filtered infusion. Adjust the final volume of the infusion to 200 ml with boiled water. Adults should take 1/3 cup of the warm infusion 2–3 times daily, 15–20 minutes before meals. For children aged 12–14 years: ¼ cup; for children aged 14 years and older: 1/3 cup, 2–3 times daily, 15–20 minutes before meals. The infusion should be shaken before use.

The duration of treatment is determined individually by a physician.

Children.

The safety and efficacy of "Buds of Birch" in children under 12 years of age have not been established; therefore, the drug should not be prescribed to patients in this age group.

Overdose.

No cases of overdose have been reported.

Adverse reactions.

Diarrhea. Possible manifestations of irritant effect of the infusion on kidney tissue; allergic reactions, including itching, skin rash, allergic rhinitis, urticaria, hyperemia and skin edema.

If adverse reactions occur, discontinue use of the drug and consult a physician immediately.

Shelf life. 2 years.

Storage conditions.

Store in the original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C.

The prepared infusion should be stored at a temperature between 8 °C and 15 °C for no more than 2 days.

Keep out of reach of children.
