The drug is prescribed to shorten the duration of neutropenia and reduce the frequency of febrile neutropenia in patients undergoing chemotherapy. It is also used for stem cell mobilization, in the treatment of severe chronic neutropenia, and to maintain normal neutrophil counts in patients with HIV infection.
