The drug is used to control blood phosphorus levels (hyperphosphatemia) in adult patients undergoing hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis, as well as in adults with chronic kidney disease who are not on dialysis, if serum phosphorus levels are 1.78 mmol/L or higher.
