The drug is used to reduce the duration and frequency of neutropenia (a decrease in neutrophil levels) in patients undergoing intensive chemotherapy. It is also prescribed for the mobilization of peripheral blood progenitor cells, for the treatment of persistent neutropenia in patients with HIV infection, and for long-term therapy in severe chronic neutropenia.
