It is used for diseases accompanied by oxygen starvation (hypoxia), such as pneumonia, bronchial asthma, pulmonary edema, heart failure, and other respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. It is also used in cases of carbon monoxide or asphyxiant gas poisoning, during general anesthesia, and for the preparation of oxygen cocktails.
