    The drug is used to treat chronic hyperuricemia in conditions accompanied by the deposition of urate crystals (specifically in the presence of tophi or gouty arthritis). The 120 mg dose is also indicated for the treatment and prevention of hyperuricemia in adults undergoing chemotherapy for hematological malignancies with a risk of tumor lysis syndrome.
