The drug is used to treat a wide range of infections caused by bacteria: respiratory tract infections (pneumonia, bronchitis, sinusitis), urinary tract infections, skin infections (acne), as well as sexually transmitted diseases (chlamydia, urethritis, syphilis, gonorrhea). It is also used for the prevention of malaria, leptospirosis, and traveler's diarrhea.
