The drug is used to treat tuberculosis (in all forms), leprosy, brucellosis, Legionnaires' disease, and severe staphylococcal infections. It is prescribed intravenously if the patient cannot take medication orally (e.g., in a coma or after surgery) or has problems with drug absorption in the gastrointestinal tract.
