The drug is used to treat many infections in adults and children (including newborns), such as nosocomial pneumonia, bacterial meningitis, complicated urinary tract, skin, soft tissue, and abdominal cavity infections, bone and joint infections, as well as peritonitis. It is also used for respiratory tract infections in patients with cystic fibrosis and for the prevention of complications during prostate surgery.
