The drug is used for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (symptomatic treatment and prevention of recurrence), as well as for the prevention of gastric and duodenal ulcers in patients undergoing long-term treatment with anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

The drug is used for the treatment of reflux esophagitis, gastric and duodenal ulcers, as well as for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori bacteria (in combination with antibiotics). It is also prescribed for Zollinger–Ellison syndrome and other conditions associated with increased acidity.
