The drug is used to reduce gastric acid secretion. It is prescribed to adults for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), esophagitis, gastric ulcers (including those caused by anti-inflammatory drugs), and for the prevention of recurrent bleeding after ulcer treatment. For children aged 1 to 18 years, it is prescribed for GERD if medication in tablet form cannot be administered.
