The drug is used for the treatment of chronic hyperuricemia in conditions accompanied by the deposition of urate crystals (specifically in the presence of tophi or gouty arthritis). Liquestia is also prescribed to adults for the treatment and prevention of hyperuricemia during chemotherapy for hematological malignancies with a risk of tumor lysis syndrome.
