The drug is used for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), esophagitis, as well as for the treatment and prevention of gastric and duodenal ulcers (particularly those caused by the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)). It is also used to support the cessation of bleeding following endoscopic treatment of ulcers.
