The drug is used for the treatment of erosive reflux esophagitis, prevention of its recurrence, and symptomatic treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). It is also used for the treatment of Helicobacter pylori-induced duodenal ulcers, for the prevention of gastric ulcers during long-term use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), and in Zollinger–Ellison syndrome.
