The drug is used to prevent organ or bone marrow rejection after transplantation, as well as to treat graft-versus-host disease. It is also prescribed for certain autoimmune diseases, such as severe forms of rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, nephrotic syndrome, and endogenous uveitis.
