The drug is prescribed for the treatment of various infections in adults and children (from 3 months of age), including pneumonia, bronchopulmonary infections in cystic fibrosis, complicated urinary tract infections, intra-abdominal infections, skin and soft tissue infections during or after childbirth, as well as acute bacterial meningitis. It is also used in febrile neutropenia and bacteremia.
