The drug is used to treat severe infections in adults and children aged 3 months and older, specifically: severe pneumonia, urinary tract infections, intra-abdominal infections, skin and soft tissue infections, acute bacterial meningitis, as well as infections during or after childbirth. It is also used for bronchopulmonary infections in people with cystic fibrosis and in febrile neutropenia.
