It is used to constrict the pupil and reduce pressure inside the eye. It is prescribed to treat glaucoma (acute or chronic), to counteract pupil dilation following an eye operation or examination, to prevent the iris from protruding during certain accidents or surgeries, and to reduce ocular pressure before laser surgery.
