It is used to treat adults with an enlarged spleen or symptoms related to myelofibrosis, as well as adults with polycythemia vera who do not tolerate or are resistant to hydroxyurea. It is also used to treat graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) in adults and children (28 days or older for the acute form, and 6 months or older for the chronic form).
