The dose is usually 10 mg or 30 mg once daily.", "When should I not take this medication?": "You must not take it if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have liver or kidney disease, high blood lipid levels, untreated thyroid disease, very high vitamin A levels, or if you are allergic to alitretinoin, other retinoids, peanuts, or soy. You should also not take it if you are taking tetracyclines.", "What precautions should I take regarding pregnancy?": "Alitretinoin IFC can cause serious harm to the baby. Women must use effective contraceptive methods before, during, and for up to one month after treatment, and undergo periodic pregnancy tests as directed by their doctor.", "What side effects can Alitretinoin IFC cause?": "Common side effects include headache, increased blood lipids, thyroid problems, dry eyes, dizziness, nausea, muscle or joint pain, and dry skin.
