    It is used to treat infection caused by HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) in adults, adolescents, and children weighing at least 25 kg. It does not cure the infection, but it reduces the amount of virus in the body and increases the number of CD4 cells (white blood cells) that help fight the infection.
