The medicine is used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (heartburn, pain, inflammation), gastric or duodenal ulcers (including those caused by Helicobacter pylori bacteria or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs [NSAIDs]), excessive acid secretion in Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and to prevent rebleeding from ulcers.
