    The medicine is used in adults and adolescents over 12 years of age to treat symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (e.g., heartburn, pain when swallowing) and to prevent recurrences of its inflammation. In adults, it also helps to prevent gastric and duodenal ulcers caused by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
