It is used as an adjunct in cases of reduced immunity to bacterial and viral infections, as well as in acute and chronic infectious diseases. It may also be used prophylactically during periods of increased incidence of influenza and other infections, and—after consultation with a physician—as an adjunct during radiotherapy and chemotherapy for cancer.
