This is an antibiotic used in adults and children (including neonates) to fight bacteria that cause various infections, such as: meningitis, pneumonia, otitis media, abdominal infections, urinary tract infections, kidney infections, bone and joint infections, skin infections, blood infections, and heart infections. It is also used to treat Lyme disease, gonorrhea, and syphilis, and to prevent infections during surgery.
