The medicine is used for short-term treatment of conditions where oral administration is not possible. In adults, it helps in the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease, gastric ulcers (caused by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs [NSAIDs]), and prevents the recurrence of bleeding after endoscopic ulcer treatment. In children and adolescents (1–18 years), it is used for gastroesophageal reflux disease.
