The medicine is used for the rapid and effective removal of excess fluid from the body. It may be prescribed when a patient has too much fluid around the heart, lungs, liver, or kidneys, in emergency situations, or when the patient cannot take medication orally. It is also used in cases of very high blood pressure (hypertensive crisis).
