This medicine is used to temporarily reduce urine production. It is indicated for the treatment of diabetes insipidus, for problems involving excessive urine production (polyuria) and intense thirst (polydipsia) following surgery, for the diagnosis of diabetes insipidus, and for renal function tests. In some formulations, it is also used to prevent or treat bleeding in patients with mild or moderate hemophilia A or von Willebrand disease.
