It is used for the short-term treatment of certain disorders when oral medication cannot be taken. In adults, it is used for gastroesophageal reflux disease, for stomach ulcers caused by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), or to prevent recurrent bleeding after treatment of ulcer bleeding. In adults and children/adolescents (from 1 to 18 years), it is also indicated for gastroesophageal reflux disease.
