Eliquis is an anticoagulant used in adults to prevent the formation of blood clots (deep vein thrombosis) after hip or knee surgery, or in cases of atrial fibrillation to prevent stroke. It is also used to treat existing clots in the veins of the legs or the lungs. In children and adolescents, it is used to treat and prevent clots in the veins or blood vessels of the lungs.
